Long Point Wedding

Shooting April and Max’s wedding was an experience that I will never forget. This wedding may just be the most fun and energetic wedding I have ever shot in my career. April and Max got married in April’s parents cottage in Long Point, Ontario, which is a beautiful small town on lake Erie. Other than the fact that it was a gorgeous August day to get hitched, the backdrop was every wedding photographer’s dream.
My second shooter, Shai Mendelsohn and I, started the day in a less than ideal (to say the least) way with getting our rental car for the day. Long story short, the rental company dropped the ball and we ended up driving to the wedding in a big white GMC van. We basically looked like movers (and not of furniture if you know what I mean). However as soon as we got to Long Point our day completely changed for the better.

We arrived at the bride’s getting ready location, which was a beautiful house on a small riverbank. As it turns out, one of April and Max’s relatives brought his boat to the wedding so we can use it for photos. You can probably imagine my face when I heard about that. Ecstatic. Right after April and the girls finished getting dressed we took that baby for a ride! It was so much fun and to be honest, I was quite shocked at the amazing energy levels so early on in the day. I definitely did not know what was coming! After I photographed the girls, I went down to see how the boys are doing, and took another boat ride with them. As you can see it was just as fun and crazy as the girls’!

We met up with the girls and took some fun wedding party photos, and then headed back to the cottage where the ceremony took place. As soon as we arrived April and Max insisted that I borrow swim shorts and flip-flops from someone, as it was way too hot out for my black-on-black ninja outfit. And so it began… I shot my first ever wedding in shorts and flip-flops! Can you believe it?! The ceremony was right on the beach so I took the liberty to snap some shots from within the water. I can’t stop smiling writing this down.

All in all this was a once in a lifetime experience. I had the best time with April & Max. First clients – now friends. Until we meet again, thank you for the most epic wedding a photographer can ask for!
