Scarborough Bluffs Engagement Photos
“The [eastern] shore is extremely bold, and has the appearance of chalk cliffs, but I believe they are only white sand. They appeared so well that we talked of building a summer residence there and calling it Scarborough.” – Elizabeth Simcoe.
I thought I’d start this one with a bit of history about this magnificent hidden gem in Toronto called Scarborough Bluffs. The first time I went there I actually couldn’t believe I was in Ontario. 30 minutes drive from where I live! Since then it’s been one of my favorite spots to shoot couples in love. Any season of the year it is just magical place.
I met up with Tara & Mike on a beautiful October morning at their home in Toronto and from there we headed to coffee joint near by for some fun shots. And they were so fun! I’ve never seen such a versatile coffee shop. The whole back part was basically a playroom for kids. Amazing!
After the coffee shop we drove to the Bluffs. It was such a beautiful sunny day (almost too sunny) and really great for photos. I really enjoy the harsh light in fact. Well, I am a sucker for high contrast so maybe that’s why! As it turns out, Tara and Mike are golfers, and they brought their clubs and some balls with them to see who can shoot them further into the lake! I absolutely love the fact that these guys brought props to shoot with. It really does make everything so much more personal and adds another creative layer to the engagement shoot!
If you are wondering about the super wide shot, standing knee-deep in the numbing, cold water was totally worth it.
I cannot wait for Tara & Mike’s wedding at Hart House next year. It’s going to be such a fun day!
