Thompson Hotel Wedding
I love city weddings. With challenges like no other type of photography such as light, light and often light (did I say light?), they are the most rewarding weddings to photograph in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong here; I think “nature” weddings are amazing in their own way. But from a perspective of a person who likes challenges, urban weddings are where it’s at! And the more urban they get the better. I guess I also have a special place in my heart for them being a city boy myself! On December 31st, 2015 I woke up in the morning and knew it was going to be a great day. Here are a few reasons why Kim & PJ’s wedding day was so epic:
- It was New Year Eve!
- I was requested by Kim & PJ’ to wear my taco shirt
- The wedding was at The Thompson Hotel!
- I got to shoot the wedding with an old friend
- The guys got ready at Get Well on Dundas (!)
- Kim’s mounties onesie and Croatia captain hat
- My (brief) appearance on City TV
- Best father-daughter dance in the history of father-daughter dances
- Met a pretty rebellious mother of the bride
- AND THE PARTY WAS EPIC!
Our selfie photo still makes me laugh so hard every time I look at it! After our engagement session earlier in 2015, we all went to Grand Electric in Parkdale for some delicious tacos (we found out about this mutual passion that day!). After telling Kim & PJ about my taco shirt, they insisted that I wear it to photograph their wedding. And so I did! I thought it’d be appropriate if they took a bite of it for the selfie. My brain does funny things after a full day of shooting J
This was definitely one of the most eventful weddings I have ever shot. More than that, it was full with emotions and motions that made each and every moment count. It was really hard to put this post together as there were so many great moments to choose from! I really couldn’t ask for a better way to wrap up the 2015 wedding season!
