Drake One Fifty Wedding

As I’m going over this collection from Andrea & Patrick’s Drake One Fifty wedding it truly reminds me why I organically moved more towards photographing intimate, New York style weddings over the last few years. These two put together such an incredible party at one of the coolest joints in the city. That place is I have a bit of a love affair with the Drake Hotel and have been a regular since I moved to Toronto almost 11 years ago so it’s really hard for me not to get excited about this one!

The whole day went by flawlessly and just felt so incredibly fluid. There was zero rush, which contributed to the chill, positive energy throughout the day. I always tell couples that they can ask me anything, and especially wedding questions that are not related to photography. We go to so many weddings every year and see the way people go about planning their day. I love giving advice based on my experience as someone who was just present at the wedding – a more neutral point of view.

Andrea & Patrick’s Drake One Fifty wedding covered the basic tips I usually share with my clients before their wedding:

  • Do not overload the schedule with things to do – give yourself breathing room to enjoy the moment!
  • Keep it intimate and therefor meaningful
  • Do it your own way – the way you imagined everything happening
  • Make sure to have the bar by the dance floor – keep the drinkers close to the action!

And lastly, I was able to tie my record of brides in one photo (3) during that day. One day I’ll make it to 4 – I’m staying optimistic!

Huge thanks for Scott Williams for documenting this one with me. He’s a real gem, that one.
