Being a Canadian wedding photographer comes with its share of challenges, one being the wintertime. This is not to say that the cold climate is always a disadvantage, but photographing people in -20 degrees is inevitably more difficult. However! The changing seasons make for incredibly versatile canvas throughout this beautiful country and as you revisit favourite locations, they always seem slightly different depending on the time of year you return to them. Canadian autumn offers vast opportunities to incorporate a plethora of astonishing backdrops into any photograph (David Attenborough voice). Jokes aside, I don’t often blog couple sessions but this one was so much fun, and an incredible exhibition of nature at its best.
I first met Katie and Conor a few years ago while photographing Katie’s brother’s wedding at Hart House. As I always say, I love forming relationships and getting to work with the same families on different occasions. It’s the sort of trust that takes time to build and is extremely rewarding for me as a photographer. For this session, I met Katie and Conor at Shawn & Ed Brewing Co. – a super cool brewery in downtown Dundas. From there, we took a stroll and explored this beautiful little town. As a Toronto wedding photographer, I often shoot in the big city and as much as I love the hustle and bustle, this change of scene was very welcomed. I’m also such a sucker for colonial + Victorian architecture and Dundas was full of that!
Also, if you’re Katie & Conor’s friends and you are reading this, I want you to know that I heard what went down during the engagement party, and I highly encourage you to bring that energy to the wedding as well!
Here are some of my favorite snaps from yesterday’s session with these two!
