Another first for us. This time, a surprise wedding! Here’s a snippet of Jordan’s reply to one of my questionnaire questions:Tell me more about yourself, and your wedding plans: Haha, well the crazy thing is my boyfriend James and I are not yet engaged… but it is pending.. like within the next couple of weeks haha and clearly we’re quite open about it 😉 ! The reason being, is that we both work in the events industry, I am an event coordinator and he is a chef at a winery, so we’ve been to our fair share of weddings both as guests and in our professional lives, and want to do something completely different. One of my best friends had a surprise wedding, and it was the best time I’ve ever had, because all the pressure was alleviated and it was so much fun. We want to do something similar. Loop our close friends and family in on the details (30 or less), likely at one of our favourite restaurants where we live (Hamilton), and then have others invited after dinner under the guise of a surprise party for my birthday (or other secret plan), when really it will be our wedding celebration… We have talked about this extensively, and the most important thing to us is the feeling of the day. We don’t want there to be any pressure, we want people to have an amazing time, and we just want to eliminate all of the “fluff” that is easy to get caught up in when planning/hosting a wedding. That said, there are a few things that are super important to us, and photography is one of them :)And this is, my friends, how you have a wedding that is about YOU and what YOU envision the day to be like. Of course the surprise element was there for everyone to experience and enjoy, however the fact that the wedding planning stress factor was minimized was a huge win for everyone involved if you ask me.–
Personal note to Jordan & James:
You guys absolutely killed it. Not trying to sound sappy but you two truly have a special place in my heart now. You treated us like family and no words can describe how much I appreciate it. Being around you feels like we’ve been friends for a long time. While this may sound like the typical post of the wedding photographer who loves everyone and feels “blessed” and the rest of that fluffy BS, I can promise you that I truly mean it from the bottom of my heart.
Okay ran out of Kleenex so I’m going to the store. Bye.
With all seriousness we are super thankful to have had this opportunity to be a part of such a beautiful celebration. Did I mention Big Tobacco Kitchen & Whiskey had the best food I’ve eaten in a while? Huge shout out to them as they did an incredible job hosting this party!
Okay okay I’m done now. Here are some of our favorite moments of the day:
